Budhwar Vrat Katha:
In the ancient time, it is a rule that people didn’t take journeys on Wednesday. Once a man visits to his father-in Law’s house to receive his wife. He was married in the childhood to his daughter but she was not mature so she lived with his parents. Now it is the time of Gauna (to send the girl with his husband) but incidentally that day is Wednesday so the parents of girl deny to send her. The Boy is very stubborn so he didn’t hear their elders and deny to obey the rituals and take her wife to his home.
On the way, he felt thirsty so he asked her wife to wait for him and he went on the search of the water. Finally, he discovers a river in the deep forest then he drank water and when he reached to take water for his wife, he found that a man was already sit with her wife in his disguise. He reached at that place and asked to that disguise man who is he, that disguise man said he is the husband of the lady. The lady became confused to see same appearance of both men. When quarrels increase some soldiers reached at that place and catch them. When all soldiers saw both men they also puzzled and asked the lady to recognize her husband. But the lady said she was not capable to recognize his husband because set met him the first time after their marriage.
Lastly when the man felt that nobody was able to recognize him then he prays to the god to save him from this problem. Suddenly that disguise man was converted into God Budh then the man realized his mistake and say sorry to him to disobey the rituals. Then God Budh disappear and the couple started to perform Budhar or Wednesday fast, from that day. It is said that, those devotees who read or hear the katha of Budhwar, never suffer the sin of journey on Wednesday.
