easy to please Lord Shiva, this is the reason that their devotees call him “Bhole
Bhandare”.
It is accreditation

devotees who takes Somvar Vrat.

Somvar
Vrat Katha
In the
ancient time there is a wealthy merchant in the city. Instead of his wealth he
has no proud of his wealth. He is a great devotee of Lord Shiva and regularly prayed
him and do all the rituals of worship. But that merchant didn’t have any child,
this is the only suffering of his. Once he was in the temple and worship Lord
Shiva, Goddess Parvati asked to her husband Lord Shiva about the merchant then
he told that the happiness of child is not in the fate of the merchant. Then
Goddess Parvati said if you don’t fulfill the desires of the devotees then
nobody will worship you so you have to give a child as a boon to that merchant.
Hearing all the imploring of the Parvati Lord Shiva asked I grant him a child
but his life is only for 12 years. The merchant was heard all the discussion of
Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati but don’t give any reaction neither tell this
secret to anyone. After the time passed that the merchant wife gave birth to a
child, all family members of that merchant were happy but the merchant was not
because he knew that his child has only 12 years life. He never breaks his
routine of praying Lord Shiva. When the
boy completed 11 years his mother wants to marry him but the merchant rejected
the suggestion of boy marriage and send him with his maternal uncle to Kashi to
gain spiritual knowledge. Being with this , he gave the order to his
brother-in-Law and son to perform Yagya, Pooja, Dan on the way of Kashi. On the
order of the merchant they face up all the devotional gatherings, distribute
food, money, clothes to the poor and needy people. All those people blessed him
and prayed for his long life.
On the
way of Kashi, both were passed by a city where a king is busy in his daughter
marriage. The groom of that princess was blind due to this all the relatives of
bridegroom were disturbed because they know that if the king knew the truth he
will surely cancelled the marriage ceremony. So they requested to the son of
the merchant to perform some marriage rituals. When the marriage ceremony was
started all people praised the merchant son, at the time of phere that boy
write on the chunni of the princess that she was married with me and I am going
to Kashi that person who was come here to married her he is blind. When the princess
read that message she denies to go with another person.
On the
other side, the merchant son and his uncle reached in Kashi and started
performing the worship ritual such as Yagya, daan, Pooja, Hawan etc. On the day
when the son of merchant was completed his 12 years, they will arrange the big
Yagya. After all the preparation of the Yagya that son was feeling tired so he
asked his uncle that he was going to take a nap. But when his uncle came near
to him he knew that the son was died but he didn’t show any grief to people and
perform all the duties of the ritual. After that he started crying, people were
gathered at that place and started crying for that boy. Fortunately, Lord Shiva
and the Goddess Parvati were passing from that way, they will find that the
merchant’s boy was died. To see this Goddess Pravati requested to the Lord
Shiva to gave his life back otherwise his old parents were died. On the request
of Goddess Pravati, Lord Shiva Ordered to Yamraj to back the life of the
merchant son’s.
Now they
were returning to their home, on the way the city the king recognized him and send
his daughter with him. When they reached the home they will find that his
parents were sitting on the roof of the house and still waiting for him. They
decided that if their son was not came they both will commit suicide. After
seeing his son alive with his wife both were happy, bless them happy married
life and gave thanks to Lord Shiva.
